Genepì is a traditional liqueur from Valle d'Aosta, made from the infusion of Artemisia glacialis, an aromatic plant that grows wild at high alpine elevations. Harvesting takes place in mountain pastures, where the artemisia develops particularly intense organoleptic characteristics thanks to extreme climate conditions.
The preparation involves infusing the plant in alcohol, followed by a resting and filtering phase. The result is a liqueur with a yellowish-green color and a complex aromatic bouquet where herbal notes predominate, slightly bitter and bittersweet, with hints of balsam and a characteristic fresh aftertaste.
Traditionally consumed as a digestif at the end of meals, Genepì can be served at room temperature or chilled. Its elegant bitterness also makes it appreciated for the preparation of cocktails and as an ingredient in creative cuisine recipes, where it contributes its characteristic notes to dishes and sweet preparations.
