Limone di Sorrento IGP, also known as "Ovale di Sorrento" or "Massese", is the lemon that made the Sorrento Peninsula famous worldwide and is the key ingredient for the celebrated limoncello. With its elliptical shape, medium-thick skin rich in essential oils, it boasts an intense fragrance and a sweet-tart taste.
Cultivated on the terraces of the Sorrento Peninsula, under traditional "pagliarelle" coverings that protect the fruit and slow down ripening, this lemon benefits from the unique microclimate between the sea and the Lattari Mountains.
Beyond limoncello, Limone di Sorrento is essential for Delizia al Limone, granitas, sorbets, and the entire pastry tradition of the Amalfi Coast. The harvest extends from February to October thanks to multiple flowering cycles.
