Fano transforms into a captivating journey through time with Fanum Fortunae – La Fano dei Cesari, the grand historical reenactment that from July 4-12, 2026 brings the historic centre of this Marche city to life with over 2000 performers. Triumphal processions, authentic military encampments, educational demonstrations and solemn sacred rituals showcase the magnificence of the Roman Empire, when Fanum Fortunae was one of the most important cities on the Adriatic coast. Four historical factions – Boar, Dolphin, Wolf and Fox – compete for supremacy, creating an atmosphere of genuine engagement where past and present intertwine. The streets and squares of the historic centre come alive with artisanal markets, reconstructions of Roman homes and theatrical performances in period costumes, while visitors can immerse themselves in a multisensory experience of daily Roman life. Special attention is dedicated to families with educational activities designed to introduce children to history, transforming learning into play and adventure. Every corner of the event is carefully crafted with historical detail, from architecture to customs, from performances to costumes. The climax of the festival is the spectacular chariot race at the Pincio, in front of the Arch of Augustus, where the four factions challenge each other in a thrilling competition that combines adrenaline, spectacle and tradition.
