Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi DOC is the great white wine of the Marche region, produced from Verdicchio grapes in the hilly area surrounding Jesi, in the province of Ancona. It is an indigenous Marche varietal that produces one of Italy's most long-lived and versatile white wines.
With a pale straw color and greenish reflections (from which the name "Verdicchio" derives), it offers notes of green apple, almond, white flowers, and a pronounced minerality on the nose. On the palate it is fresh and savory, with good structure and an almond-like finish.
The amphora-shaped bottle, designed in the 1950s by architect Antonio Maiocchi, has become an icon of Italian design. The Riserva versions age beautifully for 5-10 years.
