The Festa del Grano di Jelsi is a celebration with deep roots, born in 1805 following the devastating earthquake of Bojano that miraculously spared the town. The inhabitants, grateful to Saint Anne (whose feast day falls on July 26, the date of the main tremor), decided to dedicate a celebration to her centered on grain, then as precious as gold and the primary source of sustenance for the community. For over two centuries this tradition is renewed every year, transforming Jelsi into an explosion of colors and symbolic meanings.

The festival is a masterpiece of collective craftsmanship that involves the entire town for weeks. Women braid the wheat ears, creating miles of braids to adorn the streets, while in warehouses children and adults work meticulously on allegorical floats, gluing grain and ears one by one in a work of extraordinary patience. Traditional manual labor transforms into celebration: approximately one month before the main event, the wheat harvest in a selected field concludes with the convivial farmer's breakfast, featuring eggs, bread, sausage and fried peppers.

July 26 is the culmination of the event: in the morning the floats receive a blessing and parade through the town's streets in a procession lasting until lunchtime, while in the evening a concert concludes the celebrations. An event that perfectly embodies the Molisan spirit, where sacredness, rural tradition and community are inextricably intertwined.
