Cioccolato di Perugia

Perugia's chocolate-making tradition dates back to the 19th century and has made this Umbrian city one of Italy's chocolate capitals. The most famous product is the "Bacio Perugina", created in 1922 by Luisa Spagnoli: a whole hazelnut wrapped in gianduja and covered with dark chocolate.

Every year, Perugia hosts "Eurochocolate", Europe's largest chocolate festival, which transforms the historic center into a paradise for chocolate lovers with tastings, workshops, and chocolate sculptures.

The tradition also includes dragées, truffles, artisanal chocolate bars, and pralines, produced by numerous artisanal chocolate makers alongside the industrial giant Perugina.
