Franciacorta DOCG is Italy's most prestigious classic method sparkling wine, produced in the hilly area south of Lake Iseo in the province of Brescia. It was the first Italian wine to obtain DOCG status for the classic method, in 1995.
Produced from Chardonnay, Pinot Nero, and Pinot Bianco grapes, Franciacorta follows the traditional method of re-fermentation in the bottle with a minimum aging of 18 months on the lees (25 months for Millesimato, 60 for Riserva).
Elegant and refined, with a persistent perlage, it evokes white flowers, citrus, yeast, and bread crust on the nose. It is Italy's answer to Champagne, perfect for aperitivos and refined fish dishes.
