The most beloved and anticipated village festival in Briatico is back! On August 7th, starting at 9:30 PM, the San Leo district of Briatico invites you to its main square for the Sagra Sanleota. A tradition now spanning over 40 years, this event brings together locals and tourists alike, creating a warm atmosphere that makes everyone feel at home. The Star Dish: Fileja with Chickpeas The highlight of the evening is Fileja con i Ceci, a signature recipe of San Leo's culinary heritage, passed down with love from mother to daughter. This handmade fresh pasta, paired with a rich and savory sauce, embodies the essence of rustic Calabrian cuisine—an authentic flavor that tells the story and identity of this charming village. What to Eat and Drink The food stalls offer a symphony of Calabrian flavors beyond the main course. Enjoy grilled sausage sandwiches, the classics Pepi e Patati and Peperonata, crispy fries, traditional San Leo sweets, local wine, and much more. The Evening Atmosphere Sagra Sanleota is a true popular festival where food unites with music and entertainment. The evening features a concert by Kantarè, a Calabrian ethno-folk ensemble, followed by DJ sets with Franco Modesti and DJ Vlab. The grand finale arrives with Mata and Grifone, the iconic giants created by Mastro Micio, whose traditional dance performances deliver pure folklore magic.
