The Sagra dell'Asparago Verde di Altedo is an event that has celebrated one of Emilia-Romagna's finest products for over fifty years. Established in the 1970s, this annual celebration honors a vegetable with ancient roots: asparagus was already considered a delicacy during the Roman Empire, when it was cultivated in the gardens of patrician families. Today, Altedo Green Asparagus IGP keeps this thousand-year tradition alive, standing out for its quality and excellence.

Altedo Green Asparagus is a Protected Geographical Indication product grown exclusively in 30 municipalities of the Bologna metropolitan area and 26 in the province of Ferrara—a region with unique soil and climate characteristics. Its reputation stems from extraordinary organoleptic properties: extremely tender spears, completely free of woody fibers, with a delicate and refined flavor. These qualities make it a prized delicacy sought after by renowned chefs and connoisseurs of regional cuisine.

During the Festival, the Altedo area transforms into a grand celebration of taste, where visitors can sample this precious vegetable in countless preparations: from classic regional recipes to contemporary dishes. Local asparagus farms open their doors to visitors, historic kitchens offer dedicated menus, and the village streets fill with gastronomic stands that showcase this gift from the Emilia-Romagna countryside.
