Medioevo a Valvasone is one of the most eagerly anticipated events in Italy's historical reenactment calendar, reaching its 34th edition this year. From September 3–6, 2026, the charming Friuli borgo will transform into an open-air theatre to relive medieval atmospheres, guided by a particularly fascinating theme: the Orcolat, the devastating 1348 earthquake that left a profound mark on Friuli's collective memory. An event that blends history, spectacle, and local traditions in a proven formula that audiences consistently adore. With over 150 activities spread across the piazzas, courtyards, and narrow streets of the historic centre, the festival offers total immersion in the Middle Ages. Thousands of reenactors, 13 taverns, fire spectacles such as the evocative Fulgor Noctis, jousts, demonstrations of ancient crafts, and historical processions will create an authentic and captivating atmosphere. Armed encampments, medieval artisans and merchants, along with musicians and flag-wavers, will faithfully recreate the ambience of ancient medieval fairs. Among the most anticipated moments is the Medieval Banquet on September 4 in the Cloister of the former Convent of the Friars Servants of Mary—a unique opportunity to savour ‹Foods and flavours of medieval Friuli at the time of the Orcolat›, prepared using authentic historical recipes.
