Tempus est Jocundum

Tempus Est Jocundum is one of the most captivating historical reenactments in northeastern Italy, transforming the historic centre of Gemona del Friuli into an authentic medieval village. From July 31 to August 3, 2026, visitors will be able to immerse themselves completely in a distant era, where every detail is carefully crafted to guarantee an immersive and engaging experience. With historical markets, taverns run according to ancient customs, travelling performances and demonstrations of medieval crafts, the event offers a fascinating journey back in time. The heart of the celebration is the celebrated Palio delle Borgate, a competition that pits the four districts of the town against each other in a spectacular and traditional challenge. What makes this reenactment truly unique is the use of the local medieval currency—the talleri coins—and ceramic shards, which allow visitors to experience life as it was in the Middle Ages, purchasing goods and services through authentic historical exchange methods.
