Brovada DOP is a unique side dish in the Italian gastronomic landscape: white turnips macerated in grape pomace for at least 30 days, then grated and slowly cooked. The result is a vegetable with a tangy, fermented flavor, similar to sauerkraut but more delicate.

This tradition dates back to the Roman period and has been continuously preserved in Friuli. The turnips are immersed in the pomace of Merlot, Cabernet, or Refosco wine immediately after the harvest, in wooden barrels, where they ferment naturally.

It is the classic accompaniment to "musetto" (a Friulian-style pork sausage), but pairs beautifully with all traditional Friulian pork dishes.
