Sagra Laina e Ceci (Laina and Chickpeas Festival)

Return to Selvacava, in the heart of lower Ciociaria, for the Sagra Laina e Ceci, one of the most anticipated gastronomic events of the Lazio summer. Now in its 27th edition, this celebration takes place on Saturday, August 1st and Sunday, August 2nd in the evocative Piazzale degli Eroi, to honour a dish that embodies the true essence of Ausonia's culinary tradition: laina pasta paired with a chickpea sauce. Laina is a pasta with ancient origins, characterised by wide, thick fettuccine with a rustic and genuine appeal, traditionally served in terracotta bowls and accompanied by a chickpea sauce prepared according to time-honoured recipes. A perfect contrast of flavours and textures that represents the gastronomic identity of this territory, enhanced by a glass of local wine that brings out every nuance. Beyond the star dish, the festival offers a wide variety of specialties: sandwiches, local delicacies, regional wines, and a selection of craft beers. All of this unfolds in a festive atmosphere animated by live music and entertainment. With completely free admission, it's the ideal opportunity to discover the authentic flavours of Ciociaria and immerse yourself in the energy of a community celebrating its roots.
