Sagra del Melone a Cerveteri (Cerveteri Melon Festival)

The Sagra del Melone of Cerveteri returns to celebrate one of Lazio's most representative agricultural products. Now in its 60th edition, this festival boasts a tradition spanning over six decades, establishing itself as an unmissable appointment for lovers of regional gastronomy. The event takes place in the Due Casette district from July 17-19, 2026, transforming the village spaces into an arena dedicated to taste, culture, and entertainment. The festival is part of Estate Caerite 2026, the summer programme enlivening various areas of the city with quality initiatives.

Cerveteri Melon: An Excellence The melon cultivated in Cerveteri's lands represents an agri-food excellence of Lazio, characterized by sweet and fragrant flesh with pronounced sweetness due to the area's microclimate and traditional local cultivation. The prevalent variety, the yellow netted melon, is appreciated for its juicy pulp and perfect balance between natural acidity and sugars, resulting from the area's distinctive volcanic soil composition.

Programme and Activities From July 17, the Due Casette district transforms into a gastronomic arena. The festival's heart begins at 10:00 on July 18 with the opening of food stalls run by local producers, offering fresh melon tastings, artisanal melon gelato, jams, cocktails, and savoury melon-based dishes. Spaces dedicated to local crafts display traditional products, while food and wine corners showcase the territory's finest wineries with selections of Lazio wines paired with local specialities. Live shows, music performances, and entertainment accompany visitors throughout the weekend, creating a convivial and festive atmosphere.
