Sagra della castagna (Chestnut Festival)

The Sagra della Castagna in Manziana, located in the Roman Tuscia area, is an autumn festival celebrating the local chestnut, forest produce, and rural traditions. Throughout the event, the streets and town squares welcome visitors and locals alike along a lively itinerary that highlights community life and regional heritage. Roasted chestnuts, cooked in traditional oversized pans suspended over open fires, take center stage in the culinary lineup, accompanied by food stalls offering regional delicacies and authentic flavours of Upper Lazio. The pedestrian route also features craft stalls showcasing local artisanal products. The festival dedicates ample space to peasant culture, offering workshops and live demonstrations of ancient crafts such as pottery making, cheese making, and chestnut processing. Entertainment features folk bands, itinerant performances, street artists, and traditional folk songs from Central Italy.
