Sagra della Seppia di Ostia (Cuttlefish Festival)

The Sagra della Seppia di Ostia returns for its seventh edition from October 14 to 18, 2026, celebrating the cuttlefish that abounds in the waters along the Roman coast each autumn. Sponsored by Municipio X of Roma Capitale, the beating heart of activities and entertainment is set up in the pedestrian precinct of Piazza Anco Marzio in Ostia. The gastronomic format sets itself apart from traditional village festivals: dining options are hosted by participating town-centre restaurants, including De Rione, Gastaldino – La Salumeria 2.0, and De Mare, with gluten-free alternatives available. Participating venues offer individual cuttlefish-based dishes for 9 euros or full set menus for 19.90 euros, presenting recipes ranging from casarecce pasta with cuttlefish ink to traditional cuttlefish and pea stew and golden fried seafood. Complementing the regional tastings is an exciting schedule of arts and culture in the square, with afternoon and evening events offering free admission. The programme features jazz concerts, pop and rock gigs with live bands, singer-songwriter performances, dancing, DJ sets, and informative talks exploring the local area.
