Sciacchetra is a rare and precious passito wine from Cinque Terre, produced from Bosco, Albarola, and Vermentino grapes dried on racks for at least a month. Production is tiny: just a few thousand bottles per year, from the steepest terraced vineyards of Liguria.
The name derives from the dialect word "sciacca" (to crush), referring to the pressing of the dried grapes. Golden amber in color, it offers honey, dried apricot, orange zest, and aromatic herbs on the nose. On the palate it is sweet and enveloping, with a freshness that balances its concentration.
It is the meditation wine of Cinque Terre, extremely rare and precious, best paired with blue cheeses or fruit-based desserts.
