Palio delle contrade di Polaveno (Palio of the Polaveno Districts)

Return to Polaveno in July for the 37th edition of the Palio delle contrade, one of the most anticipated summer events in the Brescia region. For an entire week, from July 19-26, 2026, this small Lombard village transforms into an arena of traditional challenges, where four historic districts – Contrada dell'Oca, Contrada del Leone, Contrada della Torre, and Contrada del Drago – compete in games and competitions that enliven summer evenings with passion and rivalry. An event that brings the local community together in a genuine festive atmosphere, keeping alive for decades the cultural roots of the territory through skills tests, dexterity games, and challenges featuring participants of all ages. From July 20-26, each evening features a gastronomic stand where you can taste authentic flavours of local cuisine – from casoncelli to Brescia cheeses – accompanied by a welcoming bar where you can socialise with friends and visitors in an atmosphere of friendly competition and conviviality. Competitions range from sack races to shooting contests, from team games to tests of strength and agility, offering spectacle and adrenaline for anyone who wants to participate actively or cheer enthusiastically for their own contrada. The evening of July 26 culminates with the proclamation of the winning contrada and the final celebration.
