Festa a Psina

The Festa a Psina (or Festa dla Psina) takes place in Roncoferraro, in the province of Mantova, at Corte Grande on Via Cesare Battisti. Organized by the Comitato Manifestazioni Roncoferraro with the patronage of the Municipality of Roncoferraro, the festival celebrates the historical end-of-harvest tradition for rice and pays tribute to the heritage of the local mondine (female rice weeders). Throughout the event, food stalls serve authentic Mantuan culinary specialties, starring the signature risotto tossed with psina—tiny freshwater fish traditionally caught in rice paddy canals. The festive, convivial atmosphere is enriched by historical reenactments of old country customs and traditional folk songs.
