Alpenfest a Livigno

Alpenfest in Livigno is a traditional festival dedicated to Alpine transhumance, celebrating the return of livestock from high-altitude summer pastures ahead of the winter season. The event pays tribute to the dedication of local farmers and breeders, highlighting the cultural heritage and rural roots of the mountain territory. The festivities span two days between the centre of Livigno and the hamlet of Trepalle. Cows, goats, and horses adorned with floral garlands and decorated cowbells parade through the village streets, escorted by locals and breeders in traditional period costumes, complemented by lively folk music, shared community lunches, and authentic Valtellina flavours.
