Sagra dei sughitti

The Sagra dei sughitti represents one of the most authentic celebrations of the Marche region, an event with roots stretching back to the 1930s when it was still known as the grape harvest festival. After several decades of interruption, the festival was happily revived in the 1970s, transforming into a celebration dedicated to sughitti, a local gastronomic specialty now recognized as a Protected Community Designation (PCD). Each year, the medieval village of Montecassiano comes alive with the historic parade of allegorical floats known as ‹virocci›, a tradition with deep historical roots documented in precious photographs by Studio Balelli. The entire community mobilizes to transform the village into a grand celebration stage, where artisan markets and local products stand alongside painting exhibitions and dance performances that enchant visitors of all ages.
