Fiera di Santa Lucia (Saint Lucy Fair)

Set in the evocative Chiostro dei Teatini on via Vittorio Emanuele II in Lecce, the historic Fiera di Santa Lucia comes to life. Traditionally also known as the 'Fiera dei Pupi' (Fair of Nativity Figures), the event is organized by the local municipal administration to preserve and promote historic heritage and sacred local crafts. The market is entirely dedicated to traditional Salento nativity art and handmade holiday decorations. Across the stalls of master artisans and 'pupari' (figurine makers), only genuine handcrafted goods are featured: complete nativity scenes and individual figures crafted from papier-mâché or terracotta, alongside handmade scenic details and miniature accessories created using time-honored artistic techniques from Lecce.
