La Scamiciata

Reconstructed following the traditional format based on historical sources from the Cabrei and Sampietro archives, the festival involves three key locations across the territory: Pozzo Faceto, home to the Patroness Sanctuary; Pezze di Greco, situated on the ancient pilgrimage route; and Fasano's historic centre. Each location plays a crucial role in narrating a tradition deeply rooted in the collective memory of the community. The event opens with a solemn moment: the display of the Patroness banner on the civic clock tower, a symbolic gesture that officially inaugurates the celebrations. This is followed by a costumed pilgrimage—a striking procession that crosses the Fasano territories toward the sanctuary, where the faithful and participants gather for a moving religious ceremony. Here, the traditional banners (labari) of St. Stephen, St. John, and the Madonna of Pozzo Faceto—the Patrons of Fasano—are blessed.
