Marangiane in Festa returns to Castri di Lecce from July 24-28, 2026 with a celebration of the local eggplant that embodies the essence of Salentine cuisine. Organized by the Pro Loco, the festival offers a fascinating balance between the tradition of peasant cooking and contemporary culinary innovations, where the star vegetable transforms into dishes that tell generations of agricultural wisdom. From classic eggplant parmesan in red and white versions to steaming meatballs, from sagne 'ncannulate with eggplant batter to the surprising chocolate eggplant parmesan, each recipe represents a piece of local gastronomic heritage.

Far from limiting itself to eggplants alone, the event celebrates the entire universe of Salentine flavors with crispy pittule, genuine bruschetta, specialties like pezzetti di cavallo and succulent roasts.
