Sagra della friseddhra ‘ncapunata

The Sagra della Frisella 'ncapunata is a unique opportunity to discover one of the most authentic dishes in Salento culinary tradition. Held in Magliano in the province of Lecce, this event celebrates a food with deep roots, born from the necessity of fishermen who needed to preserve bread during long periods at sea. The frisella, a hard and durable bread, transforms into a gastronomic masterpiece when 'ncapunata—dressed with extra virgin olive oil, tomato and salt, with the option to add anchovies and green olives. Organized for over thirty years, the festival coincides with religious celebrations honoring the co-patrons San Vito Martire and Maria SS.ma Bambina, intertwining gastronomic tradition with popular devotion. Friselle are distributed free to the public, with the opportunity to make a voluntary donation that is entirely given to charity, transforming the celebration of food into an act of solidarity. Beyond culinary specialties, the festival offers a rich entertainment program featuring the famous Cuccagna pole, musical performances and shows, as well as recreational and educational activities for children.
