Sagra della Mela a Ussassai (Apple Festival in Ussassai)

Over the weekend of Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 October 2026, the historic center of Ussassai hosts the 28th edition of the Sagra della Mela. Organized by the Pro Loco Ussassai Tourist Association in partnership with the local town council, the festival takes place as part of the National Authentic Villages of Italy Day celebrations, enlivening the streets and historic stone houses of this mountain hamlet in Ogliastra. The event highlights the territory's rich fruit biodiversity and ancient native varieties cultivated in local orchards, with special attention given to the prized Trempa Orrubia apple, alongside Melapira, Mela Ferru, Mel'Ogliu, and quinces. Visitors can discover and savor these fruits through dedicated exhibitions and tastings of traditional Sardinian specialties. Adding to the vibrant atmosphere along the village streets are market stalls, themed workshops, and cultural performances, including ethnic music concerts and folk shows featuring traditional Sardinian choirs and masks.
