Carignano del Sulcis

Carignano del Sulcis is a DOC red wine originating from the Sulcis region in south-western Sardegna. Produced from the Carignano grape variety, one of the oldest in the area, it represents one of the most characteristic expressions of Sardinian winemaking. The vines grow traditionally on their own rootstock directly on sandy soils, a practice that gives this wine distinctive organoleptic characteristics.

On the palate it presents with a well-defined tannic structure and a generally robust body. The intense red colour, the aroma of red fruits and spices, and the persistent finish make this wine versatile at the table. It pairs effectively with dishes based on red meat, aged cheeses, and traditional Sardinian cuisine preparations.

Viticulture in the Sulcis on sand represents an element of historical continuity and a practice that has allowed, over the centuries, the preservation of production quality even in challenging environmental conditions. Today Carignano del Sulcis remains one of the island's most representative wines, appreciated for the authenticity and organoleptic consistency it expresses.
