La Festa del Contadino (The Farmer's Festival)

In Pennisi, a hamlet of Acireale, the Festa del Contadino returns to celebrate rural roots and the authentic flavors of local tradition. The festival enlivens the main square with stalls dedicated to farm-fresh produce and tasting itineraries showcasing specialties such as Sicilian mostarda and vino cotto (cooked wine), welcoming visitors to experience genuine community warmth. Among the most anticipated highlights is the evocative re-enactment of traditional grape stomping right in the square, a timeless ritual that brings the ancient grape harvest atmosphere back to life.
