Aci Trezza, the enchanting fishing village nestled at the foot of Mount Etna, is preparing to celebrate one of its most authentic traditions: the Sagra del Pesce Spada. From July 4-6, 2026, this small coastal town in the province of Catania transforms its squares into a temple of Sicilian gastronomy, where swordfish—the undisputed protagonist of the local economy—is celebrated in its purest and most authentic form.
A tradition rooted in 1960, when the village first decided to dedicate an entire festival to this noble fish. During the festival, three large grills are set up along the streets, where skilled master chefs prepare freshly caught swordfish from the historic Trezzote swordfish boats. The recipe is simple yet refined: the fish is seasoned with extra virgin olive oil, fresh lemon, Sicilian oregano, and sea salt, accompanied by crisp salad, homemade bread, and local wine.
An unmissable opportunity to immerse yourself in the authentic atmosphere of coastal Sicily, where the sea and culinary tradition meet in an explosion of genuine flavors. The Sagra del Pesce Spada of Aci Trezza represents the beating heart of a community that proudly passes down its cultural and gastronomic values.
