Arancia di Ribera

The Arancia di Ribera DOP, known as "Brasiliano", is a blonde orange with succulent flesh and an exceptionally sweet flavor, cultivated in the Platani Valley in the province of Agrigento. It is the only Italian orange with DOP certification.

The Washington Navel variety, introduced to Ribera in the nineteenth century, found its ideal habitat in this territory: clayey soils and a Mediterranean climate with temperature variations that enhance the natural sweetness of the fruit.

Arancia di Ribera is prized for fresh consumption, but also for jams, granitas, and desserts. Harvesting takes place from November to May.
