Sale Marino di Trapani

Sale Marino di Trapani IGP is produced in the ancient salt marshes along the coast between Trapani and Marsala, with a tradition dating back to the Phoenicians (3,000 years ago). It is the last example in Italy of salt harvested entirely by hand using the traditional method.

The production process follows nature's rhythm: seawater is channeled into increasingly smaller evaporation basins, where sun and wind concentrate the salt. Harvesting takes place in summer, when a crust of crystals forms.

This salt is incredibly rich in minerals and trace elements, with a less aggressive flavor than industrial salt. The Trapani salt marshes are also a landscape of extraordinary beauty, dotted with windmills and pink flamingos.
