The Festa delle Baite at Obereggen is one of the most anticipated events of the Trentino summer, where South Tyrolean culinary tradition meets the wild beauty of Val d'Ega. Every first Sunday in August, the municipality of Nova Ponente welcomes visitors from across Italy and abroad, ready to embark on an unforgettable gastronomic hiking adventure among the mountain huts of the Latemar and Pampeago massifs. The event perfectly combines three essential elements: gastronomy, entertainment, and conviviality. Along the hiking route connecting Obereggen to Pampeago, visitors will savor local specialties prepared fresh at various food stations. The Oberholz refuge stands out as the main hub, while other charming alpine huts round out the culinary offerings. Signature dishes not to miss include: canederli in broth, casunziei (spinach and ricotta-filled ravioli), buttered spätzle, smoked speck, alpine cheese, freshly baked apple strudel, and kaiserschmarrn. Each dish is prepared according to traditional recipes passed down through generations of mountain hut keepers. To provide easy access for families and elderly visitors, two cable car systems are available at special rates: the Obereggen-Ochsenweide cabin lift and the panoramic Obereggen-Oberholz chairlift, both at just 5 euros for a round-trip ticket. Live music and entertainment animate the various huts throughout the day, creating a festive and authentic atmosphere.
