Brunello di Montalcino

Brunello di Montalcino DOCG is one of the world's great red wines, produced exclusively from Sangiovese Grosso grapes (known as "Brunello") in the territory of Montalcino, in the province of Siena. The first bottle was produced by Ferruccio Biondi-Santi in 1888.

Regulations require a minimum aging of 5 years from harvest (6 for Riserva), of which at least 2 must be in oak barrels. With a ruby red color tending toward garnet, it offers notes of cherry, leather, tobacco, forest floor, and spices on the nose.

On the palate it is elegant and austere, with noble tannins and extraordinary length. The finest vintages can age for decades. It is the perfect wine for important Tuscan meat and game dishes.
