Taverna San Martino (Saint Martin's Tavern Festival)

Taverna di San Martino returns for its 13th edition in Casteltodino, within the municipality of Montecastrilli, hosted inside the heated halls of the historic Palazzo di Massa. Organized by the Parish of San Bartolomeo di Casteltodino, the event celebrates the rich flavors of the Umbrian autumn season, combining authentic regional cuisine with a welcoming community spirit. The culinary lineup highlights time-honored traditional dishes such as pappardelle with wild boar ragù, woodland strozzapreti pasta, wild boar with olives, grilled lamb chops ('scottadito'), Umbrian flatbread ('pizza al testo'), and a hearty chickpea and mushroom soup, all paired with local wine and roasted chestnuts. Beyond the gastronomic offerings, the festival features a vibrant schedule of entertainment: art exhibitions, foosball, briscola and burraco tournaments, guided walks, fun sports activities, and local wine and olive oil competitions complete with award ceremonies.
