The Festa della Torta al Testo in Pila represents one of the most eagerly anticipated and well-established events in Umbrian gastronomy. Now in its 48th edition, this celebration honours one of Perugia's most iconic culinary treasures: the torta al testo, an ancient preparation that embodies the tradition and authenticity of local cuisine. From 26 June to 5 July 2026, the Arringatore park at Villa Umbra will transform into a gathering place to rediscover authentic Umbrian flavours. The torta al testo is a complete sensory experience: the aroma of bread freshly baked on a cast-iron griddle mingles with the scents of local cured meats and cheeses, while the steam rising from the traditional griddle creates an authentic and engaging atmosphere. Visitors can taste various versions of the traditional recipe: from the classic version with typical cured meats, cheeses and local sausage, to lighter proposals featuring wild herbs gathered according to tradition. Every bite tells the story of Perugia's rural cuisine—genuine and uncompromising. The event is not merely a gastronomic celebration, but a true festival dedicated to the territory and its excellences. Pairing with DOC wines from the Colli Perugini completes the food and wine experience, offering combinations that enhance authentic flavours. Live music and dance performances create a festive and convivial atmosphere each evening. GUIDED FOOD AND WINE TOUR AND WORKSHOPS The festival features a guided gastronomic route where visitors discover regional variations of the torta al testo and traditional preparation techniques. Interactive cooking workshops allow visitors to learn how to prepare the torta al testo directly from local masters, with the opportunity to taste their own creation. Paired wine tastings of DOC wines will reveal the excellence of Colli Perugini wines. ENTERTAINMENT AND PROGRAMME Every evening from 26 June to 5 July, live music performances with local and regional artists, traditional Umbrian dances, and family entertainment performances alternate throughout the park.
