Sagra della Frittella (Fritter Festival)

The 44th edition of the Sagra della Frittella returns to Pozzo, a small hamlet of Gualdo Cattaneo in the province of Perugia, to celebrate one of Umbria's most beloved traditional sweets. From July 9–12 and July 16–19, food stalls will open their doors each evening to offer visitors an unforgettable culinary experience, where sweet fritters take center stage alongside local dishes rich in authentic flavors. The festival menu is a journey through Umbrian tastes: from gnocchi in goose ragù to truffle strangozzi pasta, from braised wild boar to artisanal sausages—each dish tells the gastronomic story of the region. But it's the fritters that steal the show, with their delicious variations featuring honey, Nutella, orange cream, and other specialties that delight palates of all ages. Behind every dish served lies the dedication of the Pozzo Youth Group and countless volunteers who cook with passion at the stalls each evening. The Sagra della Frittella is more than just food: the region's finest dance orchestras will take the stage to transform the evenings into moments of celebration and togetherness, where families, young people, and elderly guests can enjoy themselves under the stars of an Umbrian summer.
