Sagra della Rucola (Arugula Festival)

The Sagra della Rucola returns to Sant'Andrea d'Agliano from August 21-30, 2026 to celebrate one of Umbria's most beloved culinary treasures. In Piazza Don Carlo Brustenghi, this versatile and flavorful vegetable becomes the beating heart of a complete gastronomic experience, where every dish tells the story of local tradition and the passion of regional producers. The menu ranges from classic pasta dishes to grilled specialties, not forgetting the authentic torte al testo that embody the soul of Umbrian gastronomy. Arugula specialties include: fresh pasta with arugula, local cured meats with crispy arugula, creamy pecorino cheeses paired with wild arugula, and grilled meat dishes served on a bed of fresh arugula. Each course is crafted to highlight arugula's distinctive flavor, accompanied by selections of Umbrian DOC wines (Sagrantino, Grechetto, Trebbiano) and refreshing local beer for a complete and unforgettable taste experience. But the festival is more than just food and wine: every evening the piazza comes alive with an exciting musical lineup that transforms the celebration into pure joy and conviviality. Wednesday through Sunday feature dancing evenings with resident DJs, while Friday and Saturday bring live bands playing pop and traditional Umbrian music, with evening entertainment from local artists.
