Tiramisù

Tiramisù is the most famous Italian dessert in the world, born in Veneto in the 1960s-70s. While its origins are disputed between the restaurant Le Beccherie in Treviso and several other Venetian establishments, the recipe is unmistakably Venetian in its ingredients: mascarpone, savoiardi, coffee, eggs, sugar, and cocoa.

The name "tirami su" alludes to the energizing power of coffee and eggs. The simplicity of the ingredients conceals perfect balance: the creaminess of mascarpone, the bitterness of coffee, the sweetness of eggs, and the crunchiness of dipped savoiardi.

Every year, Treviso hosts the Tiramisù World Cup, where competitors from around the world challenge themselves in preparing the original recipe and creative variations.
