Sagra di San Bartolomeo (Saint Bartholomew Festival)

The Sagra di San Bartolomeo in Salzano, in the province of Venezia, is a traditional festival and a wonderful moment of sharing for the local community. The event blends religious celebrations dedicated to the patron saint with a rich entertainment programme, including music, shows, and folk traditions, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere in the Venetian area. The true heart of the festival is its gastronomy, focusing on the most characteristic recipes of the Venetian tradition. At the food stalls, you can taste typical first courses like 'bigoi in salsa' (spaghetti-like pasta with anchovy and onion sauce), bigoi or gnocchetti with 'masaro' (mallard duck) ragù, masaro pasticcio (baked pasta), and mushroom crepes. However, the undisputed specialty of the feast is roasted 'masaro', the local dialect term for mallard duck, prepared according to tradition and served alongside a selection of other delicious meat dishes.
