Sagra del Pesce a Pizzo (Fish Festival at Pizzo)

The Sagra del Pesce Azzurro (Blue Fish Festival) returns to Pizzo Calabro on Thursday, August 20, 2026, an unmissable event for lovers of seafood cuisine and local traditions. Part of the ‹Festival of Sea Flavors›, this celebration showcases the typical species of the Gulf of Sant'Eufemia through authentic Calabrese dishes, while championing the small-scale artisanal fishing that forms the economic and cultural heart of this charming coastal village. During this edition, visitors can taste the gastronomic specialties that have made Pizzo famous: from mixed fried fish featuring anchovies, squid, prawns and eye fish to the traditional ‹friji e m'bucca›, prepared with fresh fish caught in the Tyrrhenian Sea. The event represents a moment of community cohesion where folklore and gastronomy intertwine, offering an authentic experience of Calabrese seafaring traditions.
