XXVI Sagra della Castagna (26th Chestnut Festival)

The historic center of Cardeto welcomes the 26th edition of the Sagra della Castagna, a vibrant festival organized in partnership with the local municipality to celebrate the authentic flavors and traditions of the Aspromonte area. Starting in the afternoon, a rich food and wine trail winds through Largo Riacello, Via Milite Ignoto, Piazza De Nava, and Piazza F. Romeo, enlivening the village streets with food stands and tastings dedicated to genuine local delicacies. The culinary selection highlights traditional regional specialties such as sandwiches with frittole and sausage, arrosticini, pasta dishes enriched with porcini mushrooms, and delectable pastries crafted by the Associazione Pasticceri Reggini, alongside a fascinating mycological exhibition. Entertainment fills the air with traditional folk songs and live music by the group Gioia Popolare, as well as creative activities and workshops for children led by civil service volunteers. To ensure easy access for all visitors, a dedicated shuttle bus service is also available.
