Sagra del radicchio

Bosco Mesola, a small municipality in Emilia-Romagna, celebrates one of its most prized gastronomic treasures with the Sagra del Radicchio, an unmissable event that brings together culinary tradition and family entertainment. From September 29 to October 5, 2026, the village streets will come alive around this prestigious vegetable, cultivated in the sandy soils shaped by the nearby river and transformed into countless gastronomic creations ranging from appetizers to desserts. The gastronomic stand is the beating heart of the festival, where radicchio takes center stage in sophisticated dishes such as Carnaroli risotto with radicchio, salt cod crostini with radicchio, and ravioli filled with ricotta and radicchio with butter and sage, culminating in more elaborate creations like radicchio flan on Parmesan fondue. Creative and original pairings abound, including radicchio salad with walnuts, pears, and Grana shavings, accompanied by main courses such as braised venison with polenta and braised salt cod, finishing on a sweet note with ricotta gelato swirled with radicchio jam. Beyond the culinary offerings, the festival features a rich variety of entertainment: a radicchio parade, live music events with bands and DJ sets, sport fishing competitions, excursions through the Gran Bosco della Mesola and castle visits, artisanal markets, photography exhibitions, a dog show parade, a luna park for children, and a tombola draw—a moment of conviviality cherished by all ages.
