Festa del Cotechino e Grande Fiera d'Agosto (Cotechino Festival and August Fair)

The 60th edition of the Festa del Cotechino returns to Pianello Val Tidone, one of the most eagerly anticipated gastronomic events of the summer season in the Piacenza region. From Saturday, August 22 to Wednesday, August 26, the central Piazza Mercato will transform into an arena of flavors and traditions, where local specialties take center stage. Cotechino, the undisputed star of the festival, will be offered in all its variations: from the classic cotechino sandwich to cotechino stewed with potatoes, accompanied by a selection of DOP-protected Piacenza cured meats representing the region's culinary excellence. The program offers much more than a simple food and wine festival. Saturday's official opening brings gastronomic stalls, amusement parks, and live music to the square, creating a festive and convivial atmosphere. Wednesday's Grande Fiera d'Agosto amplifies the offerings with exhibitions, market stalls, carnival rides, and a spectacular conclusion featuring the Daniele Cordani show orchestra, transforming the day into a family-friendly entertainment event. Beyond the celebrated cotechino, the stalls offer traditional dishes such as pisarei e fasò, succulent grilled meats, and homemade desserts, all paired with prestigious DOC wines from Val Tidone.
