Sagra dello Scalogno Piacentino (Piacenza Shallot Festival)

The 11th edition of the Sagra dello Scalogno Piacentino returns to Castelvetro Piacentino, one of Emilia-Romagna's most anticipated gastronomic events. From September 3rd to 6th, Piazza del Comune transforms into an arena of flavors and entertainment, where the undisputed star is the queen of Piacenza gardens: the shallot. Piacenza IGP shallot is a gastronomic excellence with deep historical roots: cultivated in the fertile lands of Val d'Arda since the 16th century, it is characterized by a delicate, slightly sweet flavor that makes it unique. Rich in beneficial properties and versatile in cooking, it features in traditional Emilian recipes such as homemade fresh pasta and meat-based dishes. Every evening from 7:00 PM, you can savor local specialties prepared with this sublime ingredient: risottos, omelets, preserves, and aromatic meat dishes. A wide selection of quality street food, fresh beer, and carefully crafted cocktails complete the culinary offering. But the festival is more than just food: live music performances begin at 9:00 PM each evening, featuring different genres to suit all tastes. From tradition with the Rossella Ferrari Orchestra to a tribute to pop icon 883, including ballroom dancing and hits from the 1990s/2000s, the event offers varied and engaging entertainment. September 6th will be particularly special with Chef Daniele Persegani's cooking show and lunch starting at noon. The festive atmosphere is completed by a fun fair, charity fishing at the Oratorio, and live web coverage on radio and social media with Radiovetrina.
