In the charming village of Castelmenardo, a hamlet of Borgorose nestled on Mount San Mauro in the Cicolano area, the event 'I sapori del borgo antico' comes to life. The festival aims to celebrate the traditions and heritage of the Salto Valley by reopening narrow alleys, loggias, and historic cellars, which become the centerpiece of a food and wine journey amidst the village's medieval architecture. Throughout the festival days, visitors can savor the specialties of local rustic cuisine, ranging from cured meats and cheeses to olive oil, honey, local wine, and craft beer. Among the hallmark delicacies, the traditional pizza sfogliata of Borgorose stands out, stuffed with minced meat, cheese, and black pepper. The cellar tour is further enriched by demonstrations of ancient crafts and an entertainment program featuring live music, performances, historical games, archery shows, and weapon duels.
