Sagra della Pecora

The Sagra della Pecora returns to Civita Castellana to celebrate one of Lazio's most authentic culinary traditions. From July 17-26, 2026, the Bosco I Maggio locality transforms into a gastronomic arena where lamb and mutton take center stage, prepared according to recipes passed down by local pastoral communities. An event that combines culinary pleasure with entertainment, creating a festive atmosphere where tradition and modernity coexist harmoniously. Each evening of the festival offers a journey through the flavors of Lazio's pastoral heritage: from grilled lamb to skewers, from ravioli to gnocchi, to traditional specialties such as callara and shepherd's antipasto. This year's highlights include gnocchi al castrato, a dish that reinterprets local cuisine with creativity while respecting the territory's culinary roots. But it's not just about food: live music, DJ sets that enliven the nights, and entertainment for children accompany dinner, creating a complete and engaging experience for the whole family. Organized by the Sagra della Pecora association in collaboration with the Municipality of Civita Castellana, this festival represents an important opportunity to discover and savor the gastronomic excellence of the Viterbo region, in a setting where conviviality and fun remain the true added values of the celebration. The event takes place on weekends (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) from 7 PM to midnight, with the kitchen open until 11 PM.
