Festa Patronale di San Lorenzo della Costa (Patronal Feast of San Lorenzo della Costa)

In the hillside hamlet of San Lorenzo della Costa, within the municipality of Santa Margherita Ligure, celebrations in honor of the patron saint come alive. The event blends local devotion with vibrant folklore, enlivening the community over three festive evenings filled with live music, traditional ballroom dance orchestras, and dancing for all ages. The food stands showcase authentic Ligurian flavors, serving classics such as trofie with pesto, baked lasagna, Genoese cima, fried focaccette, mixed stuffed vegetables, and griddled San Sté cheese, alongside asado, sausages, pork chops, and chicken cooked on the traditional stone griddle (ciappa). The pinnacle of the festivities takes place on the evening of August 10th with a solemn procession, accompanied by a marching band and the iconic, monumental crucifixes carried by local brotherhoods. The feast culminates in the traditional Ligurian mortar-fire display and a breathtaking fireworks show.
