The Processione del Monte of Triora is a religious tradition with roots dating back to 1756, born from a vow made by the community to thank God for saving the Argentina valley from the plague of caterpillars. Every second Sunday after Easter, the inhabitants of this mountain village gather in an act of genuine faith to climb the hill known in ancient times as 'Mons Forcarum', carrying in procession sacred statues of extraordinary artistic value, such as the sculptural group of the Madonna della Misericordia, a masterpiece by Genoese sculptor Paolo Olivari.

What makes this event so fascinating is the conscious effort and devotion that characterize it. Eight bearers, taking turns, support a 300-kilogram statue on their shoulders, while another man carries the Christ figure, weighing 55 kilograms, balancing it on his neck without any support. Barefoot and hooded figures complete the procession carrying a black cross in an extraordinary feat of balance. The entire community follows, singing and praying, while bells ring from the churches.

An authentic and moving experience that demonstrates how in Liguria ancestral traditions still know how to amaze, creating moments where collective faith and historical memory meet on a mountain path, indifferent to the passing of centuries.
