Recognised as a Denominazione Comunale (De.Co.), Scagnello's black truffle represents a protected territorial excellence, transforming the festival into a celebration of uncompromising quality and authenticity. Taking place on 8 March 2027, the festival brings together millennia-old traditions, distinctive flavour and certified authenticity, establishing Scagnello as an unmissable destination for those wishing to discover the true secrets of black truffle hunting and tasting. Throughout the day, guests can immerse themselves in a rich calendar of activities covering every aspect of truffle culture: from masterclasses by expert chefs creating exclusive dishes to guided sensory tastings, from thrilling forays into the hills with truffle hunters (trifolau) and their trained dogs to historical exhibitions. The festival is held on 8 March 2027. Opening hours run from 10:00 to 18:00. We recommend contacting the organisers or visiting the official website for a detailed programme of activities, as masterclasses and truffle-hunting excursions have specific times and limited spaces.
Can I participate in truffle-hunting excursions?expand_more
Yes, one of the most fascinating moments of the festival is the opportunity to join black truffle-hunting excursions accompanied by experienced truffle hunters (trifolau) and their trained dogs. Excursions run from 11:00 to 13:00 and from 15:00 to 17:00. Booking at least 5 days in advance with the organisers is mandatory. We recommend wearing comfortable clothing, sturdy trekking shoes and bringing a light jacket, as the Langhe terrain is uneven even in March.
What are the main attractions of the festival?expand_more
The festival offers: guided black truffle tastings with expert sommeliers (from 10:00), masterclasses by renowned local chefs with exclusive dishes created on the spot, food and wine stands featuring over 30 truffle producers and DOCG wines, a historical exhibition on truffle tradition and hunting techniques, truffle-hunting excursions with trifolau, and live musical performances in the afternoons that enliven the charming streets of Scagnello.
How do I reach Scagnello and where can I park?expand_more
Scagnello is located in the Langhe Monregalesi region, approximately 30 km from Cuneo and 80 km from Turin. From Cuneo, follow provincial road SP7 towards Monastero Vej. The village has free parking in the main square and on Via Roma. For visitors arriving from outside the region, we recommend consulting Google Maps or ViaMichelin for the best route. Mountain track routes are not recommended unless you are familiar with the area.
Do I need to book for tastings and masterclasses?expand_more
Yes, booking at least one week in advance is strongly recommended, especially for guided tastings (€18-25 per person) and masterclasses (€35-45 per person) which have limited spaces. Reservations can be made by contacting the organisers directly by email or phone. Food and wine stands are open to all with the option to purchase products and sample portions.

Festival admission is free. Guided tastings cost €18-25, masterclasses €35-45, truffle-hunting excursions €40-60 per person. Products sold at stands vary in price: black truffle by the gram (€8-15/g), wines €12-40 per bottle, cheeses and local specialities €15-50. We accept cash and credit cards.
Is the festival suitable for children?expand_more
Yes, the Black Truffle Festival is ideal for families. Children can participate in guided excursions (from age 6 onwards) and in interactive tastings. There are dedicated picnic areas and restroom facilities. We do not recommend truffle-hunting excursions in very muddy terrain for children under 5 years old. The village streets are pedestrian and safe.
