Primitivo di Manduria DOC is an intense and well-structured red wine, produced from the indigenous Primitivo grape variety in the Manduria area, in the heart of Salento. With a deep ruby red color, almost impenetrable, it offers on the nose notes of ripe red fruit, spices, cocoa and tobacco.
The vineyards, often trained in the traditional Puglian bush style (alberello pugliese), grow on chalky soils just a short distance from the sea. The grapes achieve early ripening (from which the name "Primitivo" derives) with high sugar concentration.
On the palate it is soft and warm, with velvety tannins and a long, enveloping finish. It pairs magnificently with grilled meats, bombette pugliesi, and aged cheeses.
